Built in 1915, the Sheep Barn has unique polychrome terra cotta trim, east entrance murals, floral arches and wonderful ram’s head column capitals around the perimeter of the building. The lapel pin captures the barn’s tile artwork.

The 2016 lapel pin features Grandfather’s Barn. Originally built in 1865, Grandfather’s Barn is the only remaining building from the farmstead existing when the land was purchased by the Fair. With renovations in the early 1990s, Grandfather’s Barn now hosts “The Wine Experience,” an educational exhibit about Iowa’s growing wine industry.
